The coaches, commissioners and sport’s coordinators nominate athletes for this award. A committee, comprised of PSAL staff, reviews the nominated candidates and chooses the most accomplished student-athlete in each sport as the recipient of this most prestigious award.

New Team Requests 2008-2009 School Year

The time has come for requesting teams for the 2008-2009 Fall Season. The PSAL will now be conducting a two-step application process. A Principal’s letter of interest will be the first step in the application process. The second step will consist of a follow-up interview for those schools being considered for team. The interview will give us the additional information necessary to determine whether or not a school meets our team approval criteria.

Bryant’s Hausdorf Keeps Winning Softball Games

As coach of the Bryant softball team since 1981, Wally Hausdorf has coached 800 games and won more than three quarters of them. Earlier this season he became the first softball coach in New York State history to win 600 games.

GW celebrates 7-3 win over Lehman in tournament final.
As soon as the ball crossed the black and landed in catcher Jean Carlos Rodriguez's mitt, the chase was on.

George Washington starter Jose Taveras, who limited Lehman to one run over the final six innings of the George Washington Tournament title game on Thursday, leapt off the mound and ran into the crowd of chanting Trojans in the middle of the infield.

High school athletes from all boroughs played in this tournament, making it a great success. Local high school basketball stars make break for Brazil games

Kaseem Harris and other local high school hoops stars will play in One World Games this week in Brazil.
Forget a week on a beach in Cancun. A group of athletes from city schools found a much more unusual destination.

Twenty-four students will head to Belo Horizonte, Brazil, to play basketball in the One World Games.

THE 2008 MAYOR’S CUP ALL-SCHOLASTIC TENNIS TOURNAMENT
 
 
First hosted in 1988, the Mayor’s Cup All-Scholastic Tennis Tournament is the premier event for scholastic tennis players in New York City. Held at the USTA National Tennis Center, the Mayor’s Cup has grown to become the second largest event to be held at this facility famed for the US Open. The Mayor’s Cup has additionally earned the honors of being named the largest scholastic tennis event in the Nation. With a total of 11 different events and over 500 participants, the Mayor’s Cup All-Scholastic Tennis Tournament provides the perfect opportunity for New York City’s junior tennis players to showcase their on-court talents.

Emboldened by a narrow loss to their division rival earlier this season, the Benjamin Cardozo Lady Judges entered yesterday’s contest against the Bayside Lady Commodores ready to challenge for the Queens A-V division lead. But Bayside squashed Cardozo’s collective confidence and seized control of the division in one swift boot.
