The PSAL OTPS allocation, which is designed to assist schools in the purchase of supplies, equipment and transportation, has been sent by the Budget Office to each Regional Operations Center (ROC) for placement in school spending plans. The Director of your ROC may contact you regarding which object codes, i.e. 130 for instructional supplies, 300 for equipment is most appropriate for your school.

We have received inquiries regarding the OTPS formula and since there are many new Athletic Directors, it makes sense to review this formula. The formula historically has three basic elements:

· Each school receives a base allocation of $670

· An allocation of $670 is given for Varsity football and lacrosse teams

· All other Active teams generate an allocation to the school based upon a “point” value with each point worth $16.80. Developmental teams do not receive an OTPS allocation. A table of point values by sport is included below. Please note that the allocation for each point had to be adjusted to reflect the current number of teams within the existing budget. The total dollar amount generated by all the teams in each school is rounded to the nearest dollar.

The sum of the dollars produced by these three elements represents the OTPS allocation for your school.
